Cyclamen cilicium is an endemic of the Tores (Taurus) Mountains of Mediterranean Turkey,
ranging from Ala Dag (north of Adana) in the east to Baria by Lake Egirdir in the west.
This is a large area and a field study was anticipated to take two or even three years.
The 2008 field study was to cover the eastern part of the range of
C. cilicium, from Ala in the east as far as Aydençik just west of
Silifke – the ancient city of Seleucia. Near the village of Ala on
the southern slopes of the Taurus, at its most easterly station,
Cyclamen cilicium grows near populations of
C. pseudibericum surveyed by the 2002 field study.
34 sites were surveyed and 68 plants collected
(63 C. cilicium and five C. maritimum).
A full report of the 2008 & 2009 field studies was published in the
Cyclamen Society Journal Vol. 34 No. 1, June 2010.
Abridged field notes referenced by site number follow this table.
