Cyclamen parviflorum Collections, 1988

The First two expeditions mounted by the Cyclamen Society in 1987 & 1988, collected 206 plants spread across Cyclamen coum and Cyclamen parviflorum.
The numbering system used for these plants, and indeed all plants which were subject to survey on these expeditions, was to append a sequence number to the site number. Thus for example plant S24/N570 was the 570th plant examined in 1988 and was collected from site 24.
Since no reference is made to the year of collection, confusion can arise as for example plant S10/N52 was C. coum collected in 1987, whilst plant S10/N293 was C. coum collected in 1988 at a different location.
In subsequent years the year of collection prefixed the sequence number. Thus plant 90352 was the 352nd plant examined during the 1990 expedition to Israel. If the year of collection is known, there can be no confusion regarding the location from which the plant was collected.
In order to reconcile the two systems of numbering, and to clearly identify the year and site of collection, the Society's Research and Exploration Sub-committee have decided to revise the numbering of those plants collected in 1987 & 1988 to incorporate the year. Thus in the example above, S10/N52 becomes S10/N87052, and S10/N293 becomes S10/N88293.
The progeny of collected plants should be renumbered according to the list which appears below. General location details and abridged field notes are available for each site to assist cultivation.
