Distinctive Originally thought to have originated from the Pewter Group, this is a very varied but extremely attractive group of plants,

variable in leaf size and degree of pewter on the leaves (some are attractively silvered rather than pewtered), and the flowers

range considerably in size and shape, as well as markings. Most are rather dainty plants, producing many flowers and prolific

seed. In many, but by no means all, the petal lobes spread outwards in the manner of C. trochopteranthum, and some are

In others, the petals spread up at a more oblique angle or are completely reflexed in the manner of true C. coum. In addition, the nose

markings range from a solid deep blotch to a paler and less distinct blotch or several diverging lines, sometimes a single central line only.
